A WOMAN who rushed to help a young man who was thrown from his motorbike after a crash on a major Coventry road described his injuries as “horrible”.

Police closed Foleshill Road after the crash at about midday yesterday which left the motorbike rider with a suspected broken leg.

He was thrown from his bike after colliding with a red VW estate outside of the KwikFit garage, near to the junction with Cash’s Lane.

Crash scene investigators were at the site for much of the day as they inspected the area to establish the cause of the smash.

Shaz, who was in the area at the time of the incident, told the Telegraph she and an off duty nurse had gone to help the motorbike rider.

She said: “The boy went into the wheel, onto the windscreen and then fell onto the side of the road.

“He told me his name and where he lived. The driver was in shock. It was a man. He got out and he was helping people get past. He was scared himself. You could tell. He was just trying to do something.”

Shaz said: “I think he’s dislocated his left leg. It looked really bad. He hit his head but he had a helmet on. A nurse was there and we both went to help.

“The nurse put him in the recovery position, I just got one of the guys to give me his jacket for under his head. I was holding his head. He was conscious, he was aware, he was in a lot of pain.

“His leg looked like it had come out of his socket by the hip. It was very horrible. He was really in pain there the poor guy.

“He had blood coming from his head and his nose. It’s a good job he was wearing a helmet or it could have been much worse.

“I think someone must be looking after him. I think he’ll be okay.”

She added: “The nurse there put him in the recovery position I just got one of the guys to give me his jacket for under his head. I was holding his head.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.59am to a collision between a motorbike and car.

“An off duty nurse was in attendance and we also sent one ambulance.

“We were treating one patient, a man, for leg injuries, possibly a fracture.”
