THE 80th anniversary celebrations of the Warwickshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFC) kicked off with a vintage and modern ploughing match at the weekend.

It took place on land just outside of Bilton, by kind permission of Andy Mitchell.

Past and present members of young farmers’ clubs lined up with their shiny ploughs to be judged on their skills.

Ploughing is just one of the many competitions that are held throughout the year by Warwickshire YFC, giving members the chance to build skills, meet people and have fun.

This will be a busy year for members, with the next event being the Anniversary Harvest Ball at the Ricoh Arena.

Here, members through the years will toast harvests past and present, and look to an exciting future.

Warwickshire YFC is part of the national movement, where more than 24,000 members around the UK who have a rural interest join together for a range of events including agricultural, sports, public speaking and housecraft competitions, as well as social events.

Warwickshire YFC members raised over £8,500 last year for charities including Warwickshire Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support through a range of fantastic fundraisers.

Tickets are available for the 80th Anniversary Ball, on Saturday, October 21, from office.wfyfc@gmail.com.
