Stars to shine at Civic Hall

- Jim Davidson, Matt Ford and Nathan Carter

SOME big names are on the way to The Civic Hall in Bedworth for what should prove to be an exciting Autumn season.

Among the top names are comic legends Ed Byrne and Jim Davidson, opera superstar Russell Watson, the return of vocal group The Overtones, along with Nuneaton born awardwinning singer Matt Ford and Irish vocal sensation Nathan Carter.

And demand will also be high for the in-house produced family Christmas Pantomime, this year’s offering being Mother Goose which runs from December 2 until December 29.

Tim Norton, General Manager of The Civic Hall in Bedworth, said: “Our new season features everything from comedy to the biggest winter Folk Festival in the United Kingdom, high quality tribute acts, live music and dance to wrestling.

“We are also proud to be hosting A Festival of Remembrance concert in November, commemorating the Battle of Passchendaele and staged in memory of former Royal Marine Jesse Owen, who was a leading light and inspiration in the staging of this series of concerts.

“October sees the debut here of Slam Wrestling Live with the eagerly anticipated return of All Star Superslam Wrestling in February.”

Top quality tribute acts include George Michael, The Roy Orbison Story, The Legends of American Country and Thank Abba For The Music. The ever popular That’ll Be The Day returns, along with Big Girls Don’t Cry, which celebrates the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. A weekend of folk music featuring performers from all over the country will be one of the highlights, with Bedworth Folk Festival taking place in November.

Darts is back at the venue with the WGH Carpentry and Joinery Bedworth Darts Masters in January, when Steve Beaton will be hoping to defend his title in the face of stiff competition from Wayne Mardle, David Pallett, Joe Cullen and four qualifiers. Mr Norton added: “Other artistes joining us include The Vienna Festival Ballet and Bedworth Brass, as well as mediums Craig Morris and Mick Blacker – this really will be a memorable season with something for everyone.’’
