NUNEATON captain Kelvin Langmead could be out until Christmas after an injury set-back this month.

Langmead injured his Achilles in the opening week of pre-season and has yet to kick a ball in anger for the Boro since then.

After initially resting the injury, Langmead had a further scan which has set him back to square one.

It is something the former Northampton and Shrewsbury Town man called more than a little frustrating.

He said: “It is. I thought I was getting back and then I had an MRI ultrasound scan last week which diagnosed a little tear.

“It means I need an injection and then to be in a boot for six weeks after that.

“It will mean starting my rehab again at the end of that COVENTRY City boss Mark Robins has quickly turned his attention to his team’s away form after Saturday’s confidence boosting victory over Exeter City at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues travel to Swindon Town tonight to take on a side currently level on points and a place below them, and whom the manager believes will be in the promotion mix come the end of the season.

“I think both ourselves and Swindon will be there or thereabouts in the shake-up,” said the confident boss, who is determined to improve the club’s fortunes on the road – City having only won one of their four trips so far this term, a 2-0 win at Grimsby Town.

“It’s still early days and we need to pick up our away form and points if we are going to achieve what we want to achieve this season.”

Swindon appear to have mastered that art after recording an impressive four wins on the road so far, the latest a 2-0 victory at Forest Green on Friday night. But the good news for City fans is that the Robins have been poor at the County Ground where they have only won one of their opening four League Two games on home soil.

“They won at Forest Green at the weekend but we go there with confidence and obviously need to make sure we do the job properly,” said Robins. “Swindon have a bit more of a breather than us, having played on Friday, but our confidence will be skyhigh off the back of Saturday’s win.”

Robins is hoping to have Stuart Beavon, Marc McNulty and Peter Vincenti available for the trip to Wiltshire.

Striker Beavon required treatment on his back after pulling up injured in the warm-up on Saturday, while Vincenti suffered a gash early on in the match and eventually had to go off.

“Stuart came in from the warm-up complaining that his back and hamstring had tightened up and back locked up and needed releasing, but we didn’t have time for that,” said Robins.

“I felt Vincenti would be OK with what was a gash, so I didn’t think too much about it at the time, but I don’t know whether he will be fit for Tuesday or not. He might be ready, I don’t know.”

As for McNulty, who was back in training last week after missing two games with a hamstring strain, the manager revealed: “He’ll be OK to be involved on Tuesday and he’s telling me he wants to be involved, which is great.

“Everyone is looking at it and wants to be part of it.”
