DETECTIVES are continuing to probe a savage attack on a Nuneaton schoolboy.

Warwickshire Police has confirmed that the investigation into the attack on a 13-year-old boy, named locally as Owen Jones, is ongoing.

The investigation into the assault, which took place in the George Eliot Memorial Park, leaving the teen suffering serious injuries to his face, has almost reached the two month mark.

Officers did make three arrests at the time but there have been no breakthroughs since although a spokesperson for the force said: “Our investigations are ongoing.”

The shocking attack sickened the entire borough after a family friend posted photographs of the injured teen on Facebook.

It prompted a groundswell of support for the teen with a justgiving page set up as well as donations made by Georgie’s Gift, a charity set-up in memory of tragic Nuneaton toddler Georgie Hall, and the Allan Brothers business has offered the football fan four tickets to an England match. These gestures mean the world to the family according to the mum, who released a statement, which said: “We’d like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity following the incident.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown and there are too many people to thank personally.”

Two 13-year-old boys from Nuneaton, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and theft, and a 14-year-old boy from Nuneaton, who also cannot be named, arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm have all been released under investigation.

Another 13-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and theft has been released with no further action to be taken.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help police should call 101 and quote incident 351 of August 3.

Details can also be passed on to police via the Crimestoppers hotline, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111 or via www. crimestoppers-uk.org
