COVENTRY City resume their League Two campaign on Saturday as they entertain Crewe Alexandra at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues are currently in a rich vein of form, and Mark Robins’s men will be chasing a fourth consecutive home victory when the Railwaymen visit the West Midlands.

City go into the game in fourth place while Crewe arrive at the Ricoh in 18th, having collected 11 points from their opening 10 games.

After a positive start, David Artell’s men have lost their last four league games on the bounce, conceding 12 goals and only scoring twice.

We’ve spoken to journalist Peter Morse of the Crewe Chronicle ahead of the game, and here’s a lowdown on the visitors:

“They are very unsettled at the minute. They’ve often gone with a 3-4-3 formation this season but I expect them to stick with a 4-3-3 for the trip to Coventry.” “They have a small squad and have been unlucky with injuries to key players, forcing several players to play out of position. “They’ve suddenly looked very vulnerable at the back after a solid start, and are probably lacking confidence more than anything after these setbacks. “The first goal of the game has been key to Crewe in many games, and when it has gone against them they’ve often found it difficult to break down a Chris Dagnall playing for the Sky Blues in 2013 and Jordan Bowery during his time at Aston Villa

side protecting their lead. At Wycombe, though, they did fight back from one down to lead 2-1 which will restore some belief.”

“Crewe always try to play football and create chances through attractive play, but the recall of Jordan Bowery had given them extra physical presence in attack which they could use if need be. “Chris Porter. He was a summer signing from Colchester United and is a tall target man with six goals so far, although he hasn’t found the net in the last four games. He plays through the middle of a front three, flanked by Bowery and Chris Dagnall.”

Dagnall, of course, had a brief spell on loan with City back in 2013.

“I think everyone would say playoffs, although after four consecutive seasons of either being relegated or nearly relegated, that’s a stretch for me.”
