Belfast responded through Brendan Connolly but that was as good as it got for the Irish side.

Captain Jordan Pietrus in the second period made it 3-1 before Coventry were denied a fourth following a video review. Ross Venus’ effort was ruled out as the net was dislodged before the puck crossed the line. The British forward was not to be deterred though finding the back of the net to make it 4-1 early in the third period. Shortly after, Garrett Ladd, who this weekend returned following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, registered his first for the club. Defenceman Gaelan Patterson then opened his account for the season, completing the rout short-handed, Ryan Dingle and Luke Ferrara registering the assists – their second each of the night. Head coach Stewart said: “I’m thrilled. There were a couple of earlier games this season where we

“We stuck to the plan today and if we play that way the goals will come.”
