Tough Khalsa repel Rugby

-

RUGBY & East Warwickshire’s men’s 1sts lost their 100 per cent start to the Midlands Premier season going down 2-1 to Khalsa.

Szymon Oszyjczyk converted a short corner to level up the game before the break but despite dominating the last 15 minutes couldn’t find another way through.

The men’s 2nds fared better coming away from Khalsa with a 5-2 victory. Goals from Adam Hewitt (2), Tom Robson, Alex Salter and a wonder-strike by Jacob Till sending them joint top of the table.

The men’s 3rds were undone 3-2 at home to newly-promoted Warwick. Euan Walker and Gaz Unett with the goals.

Meanwhile, the Men’s 4ths came out on top in a 10-goal thriller against Loughborough Students 6-4, the 5ths lost 2-0 away at Leek and the 6ths hammered Leicester 5-1.

The Ladies 1st team came from 2-0 down to secure a dramatic 4-2 win over Worcester. Stern words in the half-time huddle worked magic though as Springett and Natalee levelled-up the game.

Springett then put Rugby ahead before Charlie’s sublime finish put the ladies out of sight.

The Rugby & East Warwickshire’s Ladies 2nds played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Berkswell.

Lou-Lou Danger and Evie with the goals.

The Ladies 3rds, however, went down 1-0 to Hampton and the 4ths eased past Sutton 2-0. ■■In the Midlands Feeder West division Warwick Ladies 1sts were left frustrated conceding three late goals to Stafford.

Warwick found themselves two goals to the good after the break through Kate Linford and Ally Keays, but conceded three in a frantic final 10 minutes.
