Tough Khalsa re­pel Rugby

RUGBY & East War­wick­shire’s men’s 1sts lost their 100 per cent start to the Mid­lands Premier sea­son go­ing down 2-1 to Khalsa.

Szy­mon Oszyjczyk con­verted a short cor­ner to level up the game be­fore the break but de­spite dom­i­nat­ing the last 15 min­utes couldn’t find an­other way through.

The men’s 2nds fared bet­ter com­ing away from Khalsa with a 5-2 vic­tory. Goals from Adam He­witt (2), Tom Rob­son, Alex Sal­ter and a won­der-strike by Ja­cob Till send­ing them joint top of the ta­ble.

The men’s 3rds were un­done 3-2 at home to newly-pro­moted War­wick. Euan Walker and Gaz Unett with the goals.

Mean­while, the Men’s 4ths came out on top in a 10-goal thriller against Lough­bor­ough Stu­dents 6-4, the 5ths lost 2-0 away at Leek and the 6ths ham­mered Le­ices­ter 5-1.

The Ladies 1st team came from 2-0 down to se­cure a dra­matic 4-2 win over Worces­ter. Stern words in the half-time hud­dle worked magic though as Springett and Natalee lev­elled-up the game.

Springett then put Rugby ahead be­fore Char­lie’s sub­lime fin­ish put the ladies out of sight.

The Rugby & East War­wick­shire’s Ladies 2nds played out an en­ter­tain­ing 2-2 draw with Berk­swell.

The Ladies 3rds, how­ever, went down 1-0 to Hamp­ton and the 4ths eased past Sut­ton 2-0. ■■In the Mid­lands Feeder West di­vi­sion War­wick Ladies 1sts were left frus­trated con­ced­ing three late goals to Stafford.

War­wick found them­selves two goals to the good after the break through Kate Lin­ford and Ally Keays, but con­ceded three in a fran­tic fi­nal 10 min­utes.
