COFFEE giant Starbucks is making its comeback to Nuneaton – in a former restaurant.

The firm has made a bid to change the former Eatery Bermuda Park in St David’s Way into a Starbucks restaurant with a drive-through.

Tawnywood Ltd has made the application to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council for permission to carry out alterations to enable the existing building to be used additionally as a drive-through cafe/restaurant, including modified access, revised parking arrangements and construction of circulatory drive through route.

In the application form it says that the firm wants to enable the disused restaurant to be occupied by Starbucks as a restaurant with drive through facilities.

“As the council will be aware, this building has been unoccupied for a considerable time following its closure by the previous enterprise,” the form states.

“The proposal seeks to bring the building back into use, for which purpose limited external alterations are proposed to the layout and external appearance of the building.”

Starbucks did have a café in Market Place in Nuneaton town centre but it was closed a number of years ago. According to the council, a target decision date for the planning application is January 2.
