Wildin backs boss to lift Boro out of drop zone

DINO Maamria has received some Christmas cheer as the Boro boss has been backed to get Nuneaton out of trouble this season.

Maamria, whose Boro side were knocked out of the FA Trophy at home to Barrow last weekend, will see his team face Kidderminster and Tamworth in the next seven days as they get back to league football.

They go into those games inside the bottom two in the Vanarama National League North.

Boro defender Luther Wildin does not think they will be there for long, though.

He said: “Dino likes to work us hard. He is the kind of manager who makes you fitter and I think that is making me a better player – and is also just one of the reasons why I think he will have us moving towards safety in the coming weeks.

“He just has us looking more professional now. In the way we train, the way we play, the way we set up, everything is geared towards us getting results now and I think that will start to show.

“We are putting the work in, we are working harder than I have worked before, but I like that. I am seeing results from it personally and we will as a team soon enough.”

That is why Wildin is refusing to worry about the dreaded drop this season.

He said: “I don’t see us as a bottom three team.

“We are better than that and just look at the way we have played in the last few weeks. Teams worried about relegation do not play like that.

“Look at Saturday as well. We lost to Barrow, but they are a team who are not on a bad run in the league above, yet we more than matched them until that goal in the last minute.

“We have shown we can compete against teams like that.”
