Man arrested after two injured in car collision

A MAN has been arrested after a collision left two women in hospital yesterday morning.

The three car collision took place on Ansty Road just after 7am.

The vehicles collided at the junction with Hinckley Road shortly after 7am.

All three lanes outbound were closed as emergency services dealt with the collision.

Police directed traffic away from the scene, but this then caused standstill traffic in the surroundin­g area.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance and one paramedic officer to the scene.

A spokesman said: “We were called at 7.04am to the junction of Hinckley Road and Ansty Road.

“A woman in her 40s the driver of one car - suffered a suspected fractured collar bone. She was taken to hospital.

“The second patient was a woman in her 20s who was the passenger. She suffered suspected neck pain and a head injury.

“She was also taken to UHCW.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Police were called to Ansty Road, Coventry, at around 7am. A 27-yearold man was arrested.

“Anyone with informatio­n is asked to call 101 quoting log 294 09/1.”

Ansty Road reopened after being closed for around two and a half hours.

Two people were hurt when four cars collided in Coventry on Monday.

Emergency services attended the collision in Sewall Highway, Wyken, shortly after 7am.

A 54-year-old woman was taken to hospital with pains in her chest and knees, while a man had suffered a hand injury. A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Sewall Highway at 7.15am to reports of two cars involved in a road traffic collision.”
