Apprenticeship call

MORE than half of employers who pay the apprenticeship levy want it replaced with a training alternative, research shows.

A survey of more than 1,100 businesses found two out of five levy-payers say it made no difference to the amount of training they offer.

A third of those questioned by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development pay the levy but only a minority support the existing system.
