A MAN who fled the scene of a car crash which left two women injured has been jailed.

Nathan O’Doherty was involved in the three car collision on Ansty Road on Tuesday morning. He was involved in the crash which closed Ansty Road for several hours just after 7am.

All three lanes outbound were closed as emergency services dealt with the collision. Police directed traffic away from the scene, but this then caused standstill traffic in the surrounding area.

O’Doherty fled the scene before being arrested. He was charged with failing to stop after a road accident, possession of class B drugs, failure to provide a specimen for analysis, using a motor vehicle without insurance and driving without a licence.

After appearing in court yesterday, he pleaded guilty to all charges and was sent to prison for 12 weeks.

He was also disqualified from driving for 30 months and needs to pay a victim surcharge. Two women were taken to hospital as a result of the crash.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.04am to the junction of Hinckley Road and Ansty Road.

“One paramedic officer and one ambulance attended. Two patients went to hospital.

“A woman in her 40s – the driver of one car – suffered a suspected fractured collar bone. She was taken to hospital. The second patient was a woman in her 20s who was the passenger. She suffered suspected neck pain and a head injury.

“She was also taken to UHCW.”
