Adil making up for lost time at Boro

- By CHRIS PHILPOTTS

ADIL Nabi is aiming to make up for lost time this season as he bids to make an impression at Nuneaton Town.

Nabi, a youth-team graduate at West Brom, has joined the Boro on loan from Peterborough United until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old is clear what he wants to achieve in that time. He said: “I am here at Nuneaton to play games. I am 23 now and I have a lot I want to achieve in my career. That has to start now.

“I came through the youth team at West Brom and then I moved to Peterborough. They wanted me to go out on loan and just get some games, and that is what I am aiming to do.

“I have got between now and the end of the season to make an impression and I aim to do that.”

If he does then there is still time for Nabi to emulate some of the more successful West Brom alumni.

He said: “The likes of Saido Berahino and Romain Sawyers are big for me.

“They are mates of mine from West Brom and they are both out there doing their thing now. They are only young but are taking their chance and for me that is an inspiration.”

There were many who predicted that Nabi would emulate the two of them and make his mark, especially during his time in the youth teams at the Baggies.

He said: “I wouldn’t say there was any pressure on me or anything, but I knew people wanted a lot from me.

“I was no different. I wanted success from myself.

“The support I had there was brilliant and it was a good time for me. I am aiming to use what I learnt there to help me in my career now.”

Which should hopefully help benefit the Boro.

Nabi added: “I had no doubts about coming here. Peterborough have obviously got a good connection with this club, there has been a lot of movement between the two over the last few years.

“But I knew of them before that. I played here about four or five years ago for West Brom in a local cup game. I remembered the place as soon as I walked in. It was easy for me to come to Nuneaton to play. I just hope in the time I am here I get to show people just what kind of player I am.”
