THE first 10 apartments at the plush redevelopment of the former Co-operative store in Coventry city centre have all been snapped up on the night they went on sale.

New images have now been released on what the high-specification one and two-bedroom apartments will look like in The Co-Operative building on Corporation Street.

The project will also see new restaurants opening on the ground floor, with announcements expected soon. The first residents should be able to move into the apartments by Spring next year.

Award-winning developer EDG Property teamed up with agents Knight Frank to unveil the luxury apartments and each of them was snapped up by keen buyers wanting to be part of the high-profile scheme.

Each apartment is being fitted out to a high standard while the developers say the building will offer a range of extras not seen before in a city centre scheme – an internal residents’ park, exercise areas and private residents’ lounge with rooftop terrace.

Neil Edginton, managing director of EDG Property, said: “There was a real buzz in the room at the launch. There are buyers in Coventry who have been waiting for this kind of high-spec, city centre development and we are thrilled to be giving them exactly what they want at The Co-Operative.

“From the outset, we have stayed true to the existing property and are restoring many of the features of the old Co-op that people remember and love, including The Co-Operative lettering that fronts Corporation Street.

“But, on top of that, we are providing luxury and amenities that you will not get from any other apartment scheme in Coventry.

“We knew ahead of the launch that there was very strong interest but to reserve the first release within days of the event is testament to what we are aiming to achieve at The Co-Operative.”

The Co-operative will also be showcased at the largest international development and investment show in March. EDG Property are part of the Coventry and Warwickshire MIPIM Partnership which promotes the area at the three-day show in March and Neil believes the success so far is a great story for the region.

He added: “Coventry is most definitely on the up and The Cooperative is a perfect example. We have agreed terms on a number of the restaurant units within the scheme too and we hope to be able to announce those shortly.

“This area of the city centre is undergoing major regeneration and is going to play a big part in the build-up to UK City of Culture 2021 and beyond.

“We are delighted to be part of that and it seems that businesses and residents want to be part of it too.”
