CANTEEN PLAN PROVIDES MENU FOR CHANGE IN THE CITY CENTRE

THE latest refurbishment work at West Orchards shopping centre in Coventry city centre is complete, with the reopening of popular eaterie KFC.

The fast food outlet looks almost unrecognisable after its revamp.

It comes as part of a £2million food court renovation, entitled CANTEEN.

Late last year, the McDonalds branch inside the shopping centre was the first to undergo a makeover and sandwich giants Subway soon followed.

With the removal of the communal seating area in the food court, KFC now has its own seating area and it looks nothing like you would expect from a KFC store.

Previously centre bosses have kept future CANTEEN plans closely under wraps, but now shopping centre manager Andy Talbot has revealed just what shoppers can expect.

He said: “The creation of CANTEEN with individual food outlets in the centre is just a few weeks away from being complete.

“KFC has now reopened and has a brand new seating experience. It joins McDonalds, and Subway in having been refitted.

“Chopstix Noodle bar will open next month, with Love Shake and Cocoa Caffe refitting soon.”

The redevelopment of the shopping centre food court meant 13 staff members were made redundant.

However, it has been confirmed that a number of these staff members found alternative jobs elsewhere in the centre, including several who joined McDonalds after the creation of 10 new jobs when it reopened.
