Biker Prince visits Nuneaton
PRINCE William was in the region yesterday less than five weeks after he and the Duchess of Cambridge toured Coventry.
He visited the MIRA Technology Park near Nuneaton after a tour of the Triumph Motorcycles plant in Hinckley.
Prince William saw at first-hand how HORIBA MIRA provides pioneering engineering, research and test services to the transport industry.
He viewed a selection of vehicles and equipment developed at the technology park, which provides expansive research and development services utilising 38 separate facilities.
The Duke experienced the new technology that has been developed on the site, including driverless vehicles, as well as the high speed and wet weather handling test tracks.
He was taken around the site by MIRA CEO, Dr George Gillespie and also attended a reception to meet apprentices and PhD students at various stages of their journey within the company.
Also at MIRA the Duke sat in an Helectronic Aston Martin before being taken for a high-speed three lap ride in an Aston Martin DB11.
And he also got to view some high tech military vehicles such as the Rapid Intervention Vehicle, developed by MIRA for the United Arab Emirates Royal Guard.
A few miles down the A5 in Hinckley, the Duke offically opened the Triumph Motorcycles Factory Visitor Experience after taking a tour of the factory.
First established in Coventry in 1902, Triumph Motorcycles celebrated 115 years of motorcycle manufacturing in 2017.
