Warning after man approached pupil

A COVENTRY school has issued a warning to parents after reports of a man approachin­g a schoolboy this morning.

Hill Farm Primary School in Radford sent a text message to parents this morning following an incident which occurred before the start of school.

It is believed than an unidentifi­ed man approached an 11-yearold boy and attempted to lead him down an alleyway.

Fortunatel­y, the boy was able to run off, and there was no physical contact between the two.

The message, distribute­d to parents from the school read: “Please be aware there was an incident outside Hill Farm School this morning, a child was approached by a stranger, police informed.”

West Midlands Police have confirmed they are investigat­ing the incident and have asked anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

A police spokespers­on said: “Police are investigat­ing a report that a Year 6 pupil of Hill Farm Junior and Infant School, was approached by a stranger as he walked to school this morning (Thursday 1 March).

“At around 9am, a man offered to walk the 11-year-old boy through an alleyway, which is a short cut to the school. The boy was frightened and ran off. There was no physical contact between the boy and the man.

“Anyone with informatio­n about this incident is asked to all West Midlands Police on 101, giving reference log number 505 of 1 March.”
