Trump has it right – make us great again

LIKE Donald Trump said about the US, let’s make Coventry ‘great again’. Let’s revive our great industries like pocket watch manufacturers. Made in Coventry – like Rotherams, Player and many more. We have the knowledge and skill. Let’s produce silks and ribbons, like Stevengraphs and others. There are plenty of subjects to copy of the world and of local events. Let’s produce a Coventry cycle, like of yester-year. Let’s produce an ‘electric’ car, the first on our roads and the world. Let’s have a football stadium that belongs to our city, and a team to go with it, within our boundaries. Let’s have a rugby union ground and a team to go with it, like yesteryear – Jackson, Duckhall, Cole, Judd and so on. Let’s have a speedway stadium in our city and a first class team – remember Jack Parker, and his brother, Norman I think? Let’s extend our boundaries to include universities etc. Let’s build schools, hospitals, universities, and industries that don’t include the names of Rugby, Warwick, Solihull, Kenilworth, Nuneaton and Bedworth, etc. The residents of these towns object to our buildings and progress and then want their names included in the subject. Coventry council members seem very uninspired, apart from a few bright sparks. Let’s have a Civic Hall, the likes of the Hippodrome etc. Built it bigger and better for world entertainers.
