Armed robbery at trampoline park

- By CLAIRE HARRISON Nunbeaton Reporter news@trinitymirror.com

CCTV images have been released after an armed robbery at a newlyopened trampoline park in Bedworth where staff were threatened with a handgun.

Detectives heading up the investigation into the frightening incident at the Red Kangaroo Trampoline Park in School Lane say they want to speak to the man pictured in the pictures taken from CCTV footage.

They say that the man could have been in the area shortly before the incident and may have crucial information.

Fortunately no-one was injured during the robbery, which took place at 8.25pm on February 22 and saw three masked men threaten staff members with what is reported to have been a black handgun.

They forced staff to open the safe, emptying it of an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving in the direction of Foleshill, Coventry, in a black saloon car.

DC Sam Sutton of Nuneaton CID said: “I’d like to reassure local residents that incidents of this nature are rare in the area, but we take all reports of armed robbery very seriously and a number of lines of enquiry are continuing.

“Thankfully nobody was seriously injured during the incident, but it was an understandably distressing ordeal for the victims involved. “We are seeking to identify and speak with the man pictured as we believe he may have been in the area shortly before the incident, and could have important information for our investigation.”

It is second time that the trampoline park has been targeted by criminals since it opened at the start of last month. In fact, less than a week after it opened, burglars broke in and stole cash and now armed robbers have targeted the popular venue.

But Paul Wrightman, managing director of RedKangaroo Limited, has been quick to stress that they have increased security at the site

Speaking about the armed robbery, he said: “No customers were at the park at the time of the incident and no-one was hurt, but our staff were obviously shaken by the incident.

“They have remained extremely professional, and we remained open for business the following day as usual.

“I want to assure our customers that we are even more committed to ensuring our parks are a fun and safe environment for all our staff and visitors. We have taken a number of steps to further increase our security provision and have provided support for all of the staff who were involved.

“We won’t let a criminal minority stop us opening our doors to the people of Coventry and Warwickshire who have supported us so wonderfully in our first six weeks.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 and quote incident number 344 of February 22.
