Farewell journey for Cov’s last bendy bus

-

AFTER 15 years of service in Coventry, March 20 was the last day on the road for the Bendy Bus.

Throughout the day, the last remaining bus (6021) was given a good send-off by the many transport enthusiasts who travelled not just from Coventry, but from other parts of the West Midlands as well, to photograph and ride for the last time ever on the final Bendy Bus to run in service here.

The bus was pretty well loaded at times, but especially so for its final round trip on service No.4 and everyone on it seemed to be really enjoying themselves and making the most of their last ride. I myself would personally like to thank the management at National Express Coventry and our driver Shaun Boyce for making sure that everyone was able to get the time needed to take all the wanted photos at each terminus on the route and especially for orchestrating a photo shoot outside Wheatley Street Bus Garage, as the bus made its final run to the garage.

It may have been the end of an era as far as the Bendy Bus in Coventry is concerned, but the help, time and patience given by the National Express staff, certainly was very much appreciated and I’m sure I speak for all attending enthusiasts when I say that.

My photo shows the very last Bendy Bus (6021) passing the old Grammar School on the corner of Hales Street and Bishop Street. John Kennedy Keresley
