City centre water park taking shape

MORE details have been revealed about what exactly people can expect from the new water park.

The cladding has already started to go up around the metal structure of the park which is due to open later this year.

Demolition first began in October 2016, but it is now taking shape, with cladding being added to the side of the structure .

In September, one year after demolition started, the shell was in place.

The old building, which formerly housed council and NHS workers, is now a distant memory.

It has the image on the side of the CGI prospective photograph, as well as details of what will be there.

The new building will house a waterpark with a range of slides, lazy river and wave pool alongside a day spa, 25 metre swimming pool, 120 station gym, dance studio and squash courts.

Artists’ impressions show the new building has been designed to reflect the city’s weaving past – with the outside appearing to be wrapped by a swirling ribbon.

Slides for the park have arrived in the city, but they won’t be installed just yet. It is hoped the water park will be open by late 2018.
