Awards for sport stars of future
A GALAXY of future sporting stars from Nuneaton and Bedworth were awarded for their incredible efforts during a prestigious ceremony.
They were treated to a ‘ticker-tape’ finale at the end of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Sports Forums presentation evening at the Civic Hall in Bedworth.
Nuneaton and Bedworth’s Mayor, councillor Bill Hancox and his wife, the mayoress, Sheila, gave the civic seal of approval to all the award winners.
It had even more significance for them as one of their grandsons, 14-year-old rugby player Lachan Pollock, was one of the nominees for junior sports person.
But that award went to 14-year-old karate junior champion Carys Jones. The other nominees for junior sports person, Ryan Jones, Lachan Pollock and Hannah Rowley recived a certificate and a Sports Scholarship award.
The Senior sports person award went to tennis
player Ben Costello. A new award, donated by councillor Dennis Harvey, the Nuneaton and Bedworth Sports Forum Long Service award was awarded to Tom Brindley from Bedworth Cricket Club. Other awards were
Passport to Performance scheme: Georgia Brown netball and Holly Payne who was not in attendance.
