Woman trapped in city accident
ONE woman was trapped in her vehicle following a crash in Coventry yesterday.
Two cars and one lorry were involved in the accident on the A45 Fletchamstead Highway, with emergency services quick to respond.
One man was also taken to hospital.
He was in a serious condition when paramedics arrived on scene.
A statement from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called just after 7.30am to the junction of A45 and Kenilworth Road to reports of an RTC.
“Car and a lorry involved, with one ambulance in attendance.
“We treated one man in his 30s who was unconscious when we got there.
“He was extracted from the vehicle. The one man was given treatment on scene and was taken on blue lights to hospital.”
Motorists were advised to avoid Canley and the A45.
There were tailbacks on the A45 due to the collision, and surrounding roads in Canley near Cannon Park also suffering.
Several fire engines were in attendance with police and ambulance.
Pictures from the scene on social media showed firefighters working grouped around the two cars.
One lane was also closed on the opposite side of the carriageway.
Kenpas Highway, Stonebridge Highway, Dunchurch Highway and other surrounding roads experienced major delays due to the closure.
