A BIZARRE e-fit picture issued by police to track down a distraction burglar has provoked a big response on the internet.

Warwickshire Police issued the unusual composition on Tuesday (April 3) – and the public just couldn’t resist helping officers track down their suspect.

Some Twitter users suggested officers watch Rainbow to locate him as they compared him to Zippy, while others were convinced he is the Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland.

Social media users have branded the e-fit issued by the force as “hilarious” and “a joke”.

But Warwickshire Police say: “Cheers all who’ve shared so far.

“An e-fit is a computer-based way to create images when we don’t have one.

“The victim/witness describes the suspect, an e-fit is made and not approved/used until V/W is happy. We hope that clears things up!”

Twitter user ChrissyP said: “I know him, that’s Zippy from Rainbow.”

One Facebook user, Jen Wyatt, said: “Seriously had to check the date wasn’t 1st April!”

Others compared the man to X Factor star Rylan Clarke and Gru from Despicable Me. Since the image was issued by police, it has had more than 800 retweets on Twitter. It has also been liked more than 600 times on Facebook.

Warwickshire Police issued the image in order to try and catch two burglars who managed to get into a house by distracting a woman in her 40s.

The men claimed to be from Orbit Housing as they tricked their way into the flat on Hertford Place, Stratford-upon-Avon on February 5. They stole a quantity of money. Officers are asking anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident 220 of 5 February 2018.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk. org
