‘This is perfect chance for us to bounce back’

ROBINS RELISHING TOUGH MAGPIES TEST AFTER MONDAY’S MAULING

- By SHANE IRELAND

COVENTRY City ‘couldn’t ask for a better game’ as they look to get back to winning ways against Notts County.

That’s the opinion of Mark Robins who knows his side must deliver a vastly-improved performance from the 6-2 humbling at the hands of Yeovil on Monday as they face one of their promotion rivals at Meadow Lane today.

The Sky Blues will overtake the Magpies with a win and will be boosted in their efforts to do so by over 4,000 fans.

Robins is urging his side to bounce back on what he says will be ‘a huge occasion.’

“We couldn’t ask for a better game,” said the manager. “They are a good side. We played them at the start of the season.

“Even then, you knew that they were going to be there or thereabouts because they have some talented players.

“They have some good experience in the team and Kevin Nolan has some very good staff. He has done a really good job.

“They have brought in some decent loans. At the end of the day, it is a huge occasion and we are aware of that because we are taking over four thousand supporters again.

“We just want to get back and play. If you fall off a bike you want to get back on it and ride again.”

He added: “We have to move past

Monday. We have six games left and we go into this game knowing the importance and significance that it could have on our end result and we are looking forward to it.”

The defeat to Yeovil was the first inflicted on Coventry in seven games.

Robins has challenged his players to recreate their form in the weeks leading up to that match as City look to recover from the Glovers setback.

“I do not need to remind the players about Monday,” said Robins.

“At this stage of the season that was the last thing we wanted to happen. “It has happened. “We made some big mistakes and after that, we were chasing them desperate for a goal.

“And if we had have got that goal we probably would have got something from the game as ridiculous as that sounds.

“Right from the start of the game, we just made stupid mistakes that we have not made all season.

“We were on a good run and we have beaten some good teams on that run, let’s not forget.

“We picked 15 points from the eight that we played.

“We need the reaction that we are looking for, and that reaction is getting back to the form we have in the previous seven games.

“That is all that needs to be said about it.”
