Please fill potholes to prevent injury

-

ON Saturday 31st March, I spoke with some residents and a shopkeeper about the state of the service road of Empress Buildings in Binley Road when I noticed how bad it had got with a big pothole.

It confounds me that the potholes had been filled in about 10 days ago, and within two to three days the filling had come out leaving a bigger hole in the service road and the roads is now worse than before.

This is just a waste of taxpayer money, saving a bit then wasting millions of pounds in the short term fix.

This service road needs to be properly re-surfaced before a nasty accident happens, either to a pedestrian or badly damaging a vehicle.

The work could be scheduled for a Sunday to resurface this service road to enable business to carry on with their trading during the other six days.

We know the Tories have no foresight with providing cash for the up keep of town road maintenance. I understand they provided limited cash for potholes to fix £9 billion of potholes across the country, this is just how ill prepared this government is to keep our roads maintained. Well what is happening to the tax on fuel and road tax where is this being spent?. Because of moving the freight from the rail to the roads we find bigger and more heavy transport on our roads and we have not planned for the future of having a more flexible road surface to take the movement of the road surface from the heavy amount of traffic movement. I hope from this the council will take heed and get this service road in good shape. John Bevan Binley
