SKY BLUE WEMBLEY ARMY!

32,500 TICKETS TO PLAY-OFF FINAL ALREADY SOLD AS CITY BID TO SEAL LEAGUE ONE SPOT

COVENTRY City fans are set to significantly outnumber Exeter supporters when the two sides battle it out in a one-off game for promotion back to League One.

The Sky Blue Army has already snapped up more than 32,500 of their 40,000 allocation, the numbers soaring overnight after tickets went on general sale a day early yesterday.

And given the fact that Mark Robins’s men had more than 43,000 behind them just over 12 months ago for the Checkatrade Trophy final at the national stadium, hopes are that the club will take up its entire allocation for Monday’s League Two play-off final.

The Grecians, meanwhile, had sold just over 8,000 as of yesterday, having been on sale a day longer due to the fact that Paul Tisdale’s men booked their place at Wembley last Thursday night with a 3-1 home win over Lincoln City. Exeter took around 17,000 of their 20,000 allocation at the Arch last season when they took on Blackpool in the League Two play-off final, losing 2-1.

The overall attendance was just 23,380 with many Tangerines fans opting to boycott the occasion due to their on-going fallout with owner Owen Oyston.

This year is the fourth time Exeter have visited Wembley in 11 years, with some believing daytrippers are not that interested anymore, especially after going last year too. The Devon city also has their rugby club, Exeter Chiefs, in the play-off final against Saracens at Twickenham on Saturday for the second year running.

Last season the two games in the capital came one day after the other, resulting in some crossover fans staying over and going to both finals.

However, this year’s matches are two days apart and journeys back and forth to London are costly and may well have a bearing on numbers.

Some estimate the football club will sell around 15,000 but, either

way, the Sky Blue Army will be the dominant force at Wembley.

All tickets will now be e-tickets (or ‘TicketFast’) only – with tickets going off sale completely at 10am on Sunday, May 27.

It’s a 3pm kick-off at the National Stadium, as the Sky Blues challenge for a first promotion since 1967.

Supporters can purchase up to six tickets per person via the online website or the call centre. Only disabled fans will be able to buy and collect from the Butts Park Arena Ticket Office.

Ticket prices range depending on seating category with the most expensive adult price being £60 and the lowest stated at £26.

Further details can be found on the club’s website.

Mark Robins’ men booked their place in the final on Friday when they sealed a 5-2 aggregate win over Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Goals from Maxime Biamou (2), Marc McNulty and Tom Bayliss helped City to a 4-1 victory, the two sides having drawn 1-1 in the first leg.
