Appeal to help pay for funeral of Corey and Casper’s father

A FUNDRAISING page has been set up to help pay for the funeral of Coventry dad Reece PlattMay.

His body was discovered at a hotel on the Greek island of Corfu last week. Police say his death is not being treated as suspicious.

His death comes three months after two of his sons, Corey and Casper, were hit by a car in the city and killed during a family trip out to the park.

Corey, six, and Casper, two, were both taken to hospital after the collision in Longfellow Road, Stoke, on February 22, but sadly died. The car was being driven by Robert Brown who was high on cocaine at the time and had been released from prison just six days before the tragedy. Brown, 53, from Wyken, was jailed for nine years after pleading guilty to causing the boys’ deaths by dangerous driving, as well as driving while disqualified, and having no insurance and or a valid licence.

The GoFundMe page hopes to raise £6,000 towards the funeral costs for when the PlattMay family lay Reece to rest.

The creator of the page, Ashley Jobburn, wrote: “The PlattMay family have experienced the biggest tragedy over the past few months as most of you know.

“Losing both Corey and Casper has left the family torn and forever in pieces, but for Reece this pain was unbearable, all he could think was the ‘boys are alone’. In this second tragedy for the family it has left not only a wife and two children inconsolable, it has left them with a third funeral to plan.

“I’m asking for just a little help for Louise and her boys, to lift that final burden of funeral costs. Our wonderful community raised a wonderful amount for air ambulance.

“It is with a heavy heart that I ask you to support this family once again and ask to donate for the funeral of a husband, a friend and an ABSOLUTELY doting father.”

The nine-year jail term handed down to Robert Brown was branded a ‘joke’ by Corey and Casper’s gran. It has been referred to the Attorney General for review.
