John is ready to go large for baby hospice

-

A McDONALD’S restaurateur is preparing to ‘go large’ for Zoë’s Place next month.

John Kiely, city centre franchisee, is taking on the Three Peaks Challenge for the Ash Green baby hospice.

John and his wife Alison are set to conquer the three largest peaks in the UK – Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mount Snowdon in Wales.

And they’re going to do it over just 30 hours on June 15, 16 and 17.

“After the cancellation of the Coventry Half Marathon, I was looking to put my training to good use and could not resist the opportunity to support such a worthy cause,” said John.

“The support offered by Zoë’s Place is a lifeline to local babies and their families, providing high quality care and giving the parents who have to monitor their children with life-threatening conditions 24 hour a day, some much needed respite. Having seen the work they do and the support that they offer to families during really hard times in their lives was inspiring. This challenge was the least we could do.”

John has already raised more than £1,600 for Zoë’s Place so far.

The Three Peaks Challenge involves trekking over 26 miles and ascending 3,000m.

Marc Dwyer, challenge events organiser at the baby hospice, said: “I am extremely grateful to John and his wife Alison for taking up the Three Peaks Challenge for us.

“They will form part of John Kiely is taking on the Three Peaks a teamt off tten off us, including myself, aiming to complete the journey which we hope will raise £8,000.

“John is a great supporter of various campaigns and causes in the community, sponsoring sports teams such as Coventry Blaze, Coventry Bears as well as being a key supporter of Coventry’s UK City fo Culture bid. I am delighted to have his support.”
