New dessert parlour hits The Sweet Spot...

THOSE with a sweet tooth have a new spot on their map of Coventry - Far Gosford dessert parlour The Sweet Spot.

Rizwaan Saleh, 30, who opened the store a few weeks ago, told the Telegraph: “I moved to dessert from takeaways, where I saw that good value options for dessert are not available - average spend was eight pounds on desserts which I thought was too much to have a waffle.

“Elsewhere in the Midlands there’s some great places offering desserts on the go, so I thought why not offer a ‘dessert in a box’ here in Coventry.”

The Sweet Spot premises, at 37 Far Gosford Street, has plenty of footfall through the day and into the evening, and with the plethora of restaurants along the street, diners might find some extra room for dessert as the shop is open until 11pm every day.

Saleh said: “At Sweet Spot we offer dessert on the go, at a price that’s available to everyone, especially the students and families of the area.

“I had a family come yesterday who could all have regular sized desserts with sprinkles, whipped cream and full topping all for £12.

“The whole idea here is have cheap and high quality desserts in a box - waffles, cookie dough or a cheesecake.

“With the cheesecake you can choose the same toppings. You can have the cake, with ice cream, in the box.”

Saleh has opted for high-quality ingredients for his dessert offerings, with small-batch waffle mix and Monin chocolate sauces.

“He added: “We make some mixes in house, and soon we will have a local lady who will be supplying us with local quality homemade cakes - it is a surprising concept, so once people come and try it they love it.”
