THE funeral of Coventry dad Reece Platt-May who lost two of his little boys in a horrific collision took place on Thursday afternoon.

The 30-year-old was found dead at a hotel in Corfu, Greece, last month having been on holiday with a friend.

He had been due to fly back home on the same day his body was found in a hotel room in Kavos on May 17.

Mr Platt-May’s death came three months after two of his sons, Corey and Casper, were killed by drug-driver Robert Brown in Longfellow Road, Stoke, in February.

The service was held at Canley Crematorium and the family asked for any donations to be made to the Air Ambulance.

An inquest in to the death of Mr Platt-May was recently opened and assistant coroner for Coventry, Simon Charlton, said: “This matter was referred to the coroner’s office because of Mr Platt-May’s death abroad.”

Mr Charlton adjourned the inquest until a “date to be confirmed” as they await further details from Mr PlattMay’s family, GP and police in Corfu.

Corey, six, and two-year-old Casper died earlier this year after being hit by a car as they crossed Longfellow Road on February 22.

They had been on a family outing to the park when the tragedy struck.

The car was being driven by Robert Brown, from Wyken, who was high on cocaine at the time and had only been released from prison six days earlier.

The 53-year-old, of Attwood Crescent, Wyken, admitted two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving while disqualified and having no insurance and or a valid licence, and was jailed for nine years. The sentence handed down at Warwick Crown Court is now due to go to the Court of Appeal.

The sentence was referred to the Attorney General who has now passed it up to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
