Robbers allegedly held knife to baby’s throat in house raid

Crime Reporter TWO men accused of a taking part in a robbery that allegedly saw a knife held to a baby’s throat have appeared in court.

Joshua Juggan and Malik Ragnatt were arrested after police were called to reports of a robbery in Cheswick Close, Stoke, Coventry, on Monday morning. The cousins, who are both from London, were detained by armed police on the M40 later the same day.

Juggan, 24, from Alvey Street in Southwark, London, and Malik Ragnatt, 21, from Bensham Lane, Croydon, were both charged with robbery and appeared at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court on Wednesday.

Helen Shipley, for the Crown Prosecutio­n Service, said that the alleged robbery in Cheswick Close was carried out by four men and saw a Stanley knife held to a baby’s throat during the incident.

She stated that a safe containing cash and jewellery was taken.

Andrew Sharp, representi­ng both Juggan and Ragnatt at Wednesday’s hearing, entered bail applicatio­ns for both defendants, which were opposed by Miss Shipley.

After discussion­s, head of the magistrate­s’ bench Barbara Mullenger stated that both applicatio­ns had been refused.

The case was sent to Warwick Crown Court and Juggan and Ragnatt were both remanded in custody ahead of the next hearing on July 19.
