The digital doctor will see you now!

A PHARMACY in Coventry is set to offer digital doctors consultations in-house for patients tired of waiting to see their family GP.

Allesley Pharmacy, on the Birmingham Road in Allesley, started the service from MedicSpot, an online GP which uses diagnostic equipment with a patient.

The remote doctor, via a video call, looks at a patient’s temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, breathing, ears, and throat, by the patient applying equipment to themselves.

When the results are in the doctor can then offer a diagnosis.

Patients can book appointments through the pharmacy and medication can be issued in 15 minutes.

Consultations cost £39 but could save patients a long wait if they can’t get in to see their own GP in person.

Gam Amar, owner of Allesley Pharmacy, said he is delighted to have the first pharmacy in Coventry to offer this service: “Ideally, patients should be able to see a GP that day, and not have to wait for over a week, in some cases.

“I am sure this will be seen as a much sought after service for the people of Coventry.”

“Increasingly, pharmacists and GPs are working together to provide a health service that’s second to none.

“It makes absolute sense to work as a team, ensuring that visitors to the MedicSpot Clinic will benefit from our joint medical expertise, benefiting from peace of mind or relief from discomfort, often much faster than has previously been possible.”

The MedicSpot clinic at Allesley Pharmacy is open 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9am to 2pm on Thursday, and 9am to 12pm on Saturday.
