COVENTRY’S newest pub has opened its doors for the first time, just in time for Coventry’s current heat wave.

Visitors to Coombe Country Park will now be able to cool down with a refreshing pint after a day out in the park.

Called Pub in the Park, the brand new pub is located on the first floor of the Coombe Abbey Visitor Centre.

The pub opened just in time for the World Cup, with two large projector screens installed to watch the Three Lions, and other major sporting events.

And the first pictures from the pub show it to be a homely, but well lit venue, and a welcome addition to Coventry’s pub scene. Pub in the Park is located on the first floor of the Coombe Abbey Visitor Centre , a short drive out of Coventry. It is located in the grounds of Coombe Country Park, a few hundred yards away from Coombe Abbey Hotel. In addition to the new pub, the cafe in Coombe Country Park has been given something of a facelift. After closing its doors at the end of 2017, the cafe has been refurbished with new equipment, and now has a licence to sell wine, beer and cider. Ahead of the pub opening, Ron Terry, general manager at Coombe Abbey Hotel said: “The cafe has always been an extremely popular facility at the country park and we are very pleased to be taking over the running of it. We are also very much looking forward to opening up the first floor of the centre for Pub in the Park – breathing new life into the facility, benefitting visitors to Coombe Abbey and the whole community.

“The cafe was closed for a few months and in that time new kitchen equipment has been installed to make sure that it has everything that is needed for staff to create delicious meals.

“Not much is changing at the cafe, it will still be very much a place for everyone to come and enjoy tasty, wholesome food.

“But we want to make sure that it continues to be somewhere people can relax before and after walking around the acres of countryside on offer.

“This highlights the strengthened relationship that has happened since Coventry City Council bought the hotel.”
