Roadworks postponed

-

PLANS to close off one of the busiest routes in and out of Nuneaton to repair potholes have been abandoned because of all of the roadworks in town.

Warwickshire County Council had proposed to close off Tuttle Hill at the end of next month to carry out road resurfacing.

Shire Hall even advertised the fact that it planned to shut off the road at its junction with the B4114 Mancetter Road to the railway bridge from July 29.

The Telegraph attempted to get more information about the closure from the council.

Only then was it revealed the works had been postponed.

A spokesperson for the county council , which is responsible for roads, said: “These works have been cancelled due to other works going on in the area.

“There are no plans to re-schedule at the moment although it may be that it’s carried out next year.”

While the Tuttle Hill works have been suspended, there are other road closures planned across the borough so pothole work can be carried out.

The B4029 Bedworth Road in Bulkington , at its junction with Severn Road to the railway bridge, was set to be closed on Friday for road resurfacing.

The closure was due to be in place from 9.30am until 3pm.

There are also works planned to start today in Launceston Drive, Penzance Way and Newlyn Close in Nuneaton and people are being warned that there will be restricted access to neighbouring streets.
