- By CLAIRE HARRISON Nuneaton Reporter claire.harrison01@reachplc.com

THOUSANDS of pounds worth of cannabis destined to hit the streets of Nuneaton and at festivals following has been seized in a raid.

In what was a planned sting, members of Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) carried out a raid at a property in Bermuda Road.

They found cannabis, with a street value of around £3,000, being dried out in the roof of the house.

Already harvested and being dried out, the drugs were almost ready to hit the streets but have now been seized.

Cops suspect that it would have been turned into oil and sold at festivals. Growing lamps and a cannabis oil maker were found inside the property during the swoop on Wednesday morning. Inspector Dave Williams said information from the community helped to lead to the raid.

“A significant quantity of a controlled drug was recovered before it could be sold,” Insp Williams.

“Our intelligence suggests the cannabis was due to be turned into oil and sold at festivals. I would like to thank the public who provided information that allowed us to take this warrant out.”

He went on to encourage anyone with any information about drugs in their community to speak out.

“Concerns about drugs and drug supply will always be taken seriously,” the SNT Insp said.

“Please continue to provide us with information by calling 101 or contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
