Fishing around for a new hobby

-

IF you are looking for a new activity the whole family can get involved with, why not give angling a go – you might get hooked! National Fishing Month (NFM) 2018 is an annual event providing opportunities to learn about angling under the guidance of experts – and everything is free.

Over 26 years NFM has helped introduce hundreds of thousands of people to the sport and the joy it brings.

Naidre Werner, chairman of the Angling Trades Association which organises NFM, says: “Millions have discovered already that angling takes them to beautiful places to catch wonderful fish, making lots of new friends on the way. It’s exciting and relaxing, generating personal satisfaction through close contact with nature. Most of all, it’s great fun.” This year there are more than 250 events nationwide so there’ll be a participating venue close to everyone. To take part all you need to do is register online and turn up. Everything will be provided without charge, and most people will experience the thrill of catching their first fish under the watchful guidance of their coach. And, everyone who takes part will get a NFM ‘goody bag’ containing the ‘Get Into Fishing’ booklet with information on how to get started and advice on different types of fishing, a log book to make a note of first catches and a special certificate as a memento of their day’s free fishing.

Details of events are listed on the National Fishing Month website at nationalfishing.month.com. The event runs until September 2.
