COVENTRY residents are being urged to visit the cultural heritage on their doorsteps next month, as part of this year’s Heritage Open Days event.

Organisers of the annual event are aiming to make history matter with the UK’s biggest annual grassroots celebration of church towers, cathedrals, historical venues, hidden places and secret gardens.

The event runs in September, with thousands of people from across Coventry and Warwickshire expected to enjoy an array of free walks, talks, tours, open houses, exhibitions, performances and demonstrations.

The annual celebration plays an important role in championing Coventry and Warwickshire’s wonderfully diverse local heritage.

Plenty of local tourists spots and hidden gems are set to open up their doors, so don’t miss this once-a-year chance to discover the hidden treasures on your doorstep.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers.

Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history.

It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences - and it’s all FREE.

Heritage Open Days 2018 will be 6-9 & 13-16 September.
