Help youths to find natural highs in life

-

I AM writing this letter regarding my concern of so many people using street drugs. It’s getting worse.

So many people using cocaine and then onto crack cocaine which is poisoning their bodies just for a false high. They sell everything they have to feed their habit, even people from good homes are doing it. I know some parents that have had to re-mortgage their homes to pay for their daughter’s habit.

It’s so sad and they’re missing out on life’s natural highs. I am 56 and still competing in bodybuilding. I get a natural high from lifting weights.

I will not rob your wallet or house to lift my dumbbells. Somebody taking drugs will, what is the answer?

So many lives and families being destroyed. I feel the answer is advising the youth on the evils of drugs or there will be many more heartaches for families and young deaths to come.

Elvis, Amy Whitehouse, Michael Jackson, George Michael, people with God-given talent, destroyed early in life through substance abuse. Life is for living, a healthy life. Don’t be a weak wet lettuce – say no to drugs. Do a positive natural high, e.g. fitness, fishing, going to church, having a partner for a healthy relationship.

Life is for living not destroying. Tony Coppola Canley

Simple test that could save your life

DESPITE the need for early detection, there’s no screening of men for prostate cancer. Hence our campaign to raise awareness of the risks of prostate cancer in men over the age of 45. We are indebted to the generosity of local people and the Coventry Telegraph for supporting this campaign. Your support is enabling us to stage our next event, which will be held on Saturday, September 8 at St Finbarr’s Club, 303 Holbrook Lane, Coventry, between 10.45am and 1pm.

We will again be offering free PSA testing for men aged 45 and over.

Remember that most early prostate cancers do not have any symptoms. So, we encourage men at risk to have a simple blood test to assess the health of their prostate.

Take medicine info to walk-in centre

IT IS important that people who go to the walk-in centre for medical advice have their information on all their medicine that they take on a regular basis.

It is not easy to remember all the names of medical products. Ian Harris Radford
