NEW FEATURES REVEALED AT OLD CO-OP BUILDING AS LUXURY APARTMENTS BEGIN TO TAKE SHAPE

NEW images of the new luxury Co-op apartments have been revealed.

A quarter of the luxury homes have already been snapped up at a VIP preview event earlier in the year.

However, new details have been released about the building and the features it will boast.

It is already public knowledge that the one bed apartments will start at an asking price of around £150,000 and it has now been revealed that two bedroom apartments will start at £234,950.

Neil Edginton from EDG Properties – the developers behind the project – and the team have been working hard to transform the building, and it is really taking shape.

The shells of the new apartments are now in place with the bedrooms and en suites clearly visible

There’s 63 one and two-bedroom apartments, which offer open-plan living and luxury fittings throughout, including Porcelanosa kitchens and bathrooms.

The apartments are set within the 1950s building, where EDG Property has maintained the character of the much-loved store but has pulled it into the 21st Century with stylish residents’ lounge with sky terrace and the region’s first indoor park.

The unusual feature will boast 10 metre trees along each side which are all being grown in Italy.

Getting the trees into place involves removing a side of the building because of their sheer size.

But that effort will be worth it for residents as they will line the sides of the indoor park and reach the heights up to the second floor.

Neil said: “The trees are currently sat in Italy, but will be brought to us in November.

“They are going to look fantastic. As soon as the residents walk in through the entrance, they will turn the corner and look up to see the trees and a snippet of the indoor park.

“The walkways between the rails and the flats will have glass put in, so people can still see out onto the park from their front doors. As we are only six months away from the build finishing, everything is taking shape now and you can really see it coming to life. It’s going to be amazing for the city.”

Two of the restaurant units in the building have already been bought, but more are fighting it out to occupy the third.

The residents’ entrance will be situated to the left of the building and occupying the rest of the frontage, will be new restaurants and cafes.

Along the whole of the front, the glass will be floor to ceiling and with outdoor seating. Two of the restaurants already announced are Cafe Morso and Steakout.

The cafe has a few other branches, but the nearest is Worcestershire.

Neil said: “The bistro really is something new and exciting for Coventry.

“There isn’t really many places in the city that’s upmarket – but casual – where in the day you can drink coffee and catch up with friends, and at night it turns into a musical hub.

“Live acoustic music will be played, while people can sit, chill and have a drink of wine. It’s a touch of class being brought to the city, and with the new developments at Cathedral Lanes too, just adds to the excitement.”

The unit at the end of the Co-op building – nearest to TJ Hughes, is going to be turned into the exclusive restaurant Steakout.

The meathouse originated in 2008 and according to their website is now one of the most recognised halal steak dining restaurant in the UK.

Retail Transport Services has moved into the former department store to expand.

It’s going to look fantastic. As soon as the residents walk in they will turn the corner and look up to see the trees and a snippet of the indoor park Neil Edington
