COVENTRY and Warwickshire Green Business Programme is proud to announce its partnership with this year’s Coventry Telegraph Business Awards.

Helping small and medium sized businesses be more efficient with electricity, gas and water usage is the primary aim of the programme – which is part financed by the European Regional Development fund.

It offers help to companies with less than 250 employees based in Coventry and Warwickshire and is delivered by Coventry City Council, Coventry University and Coventry University Enterprises Ltd.

Sustainability and awareness of the environment around us is extremely important in modern day business, so it is fitting that the programme is partnering our Business Awards which take place on Tuesday (September 25) at Ricoh Arena.

The programme also has plans to support a Green Award for next year’s ceremony.

Green Business Programme Manager Sarah Watson said: “Supporting local organisations is really important to us and we are very proud to be part of this event, celebrating the success of businesses in our region whilst being able to connect with industry professionals in a relaxed, fun and professional environment.

“We are keen to establish a dedicated green and ethical SME award at next year’s event.”

So far the Green Business Programme has helped 70 businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Sarah said: “Going green is a change many companies will have to make sooner or later – but they need a reliable way to do it.

“We provide that easy to understand approach with free energy audits and grants to help with that process.

“To date we have helped over 70 local small to medium sized businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire to adopt energy efficient processes which has resulted in identifying over 6,000 tonnes of carbon savings.

“We feel that our business is contributing to providing a greener cleaner environment for future generations.

“Businesses recognise that climate change is a problem and we are helping the community with measures to tackle this growing concern.

“We are involving the local community and engaging their employees through education, communicating, enabling, supporting, and encouraging participation in the green process.”

Finalists face an exciting few days as the countdown to this year’s Coventry Telegraph Business Awards ceremony continues.

The black tie event includes a Champagne reception, three course meal and entertainment at the Ricoh Arena.
