SPOT TREATMENTS

Boots Skin Clear 24h Rapid Action Treatment Cream (25ml), £3.50:

This promises visible results, ‘reducing redness in only one day and giving you clearer skin in only three days’. It felt quite mild going on, compared to some spot creams, and didn’t dry my skin out. While it probably moved my worst spots on a little quicker than they would have gone naturally, I don’t think it gave me clearer skin on the whole.

Murad Rapid Relief Spot Treatment £17, (15ml) murad.co.uk:

This spot treatment comes with a high price and big claims, promising to “reduces blemish sizes and redness within four hours”. The good news is that it really delivers. I was going through a particularly bad hormonal patch of adult acne when I tried this. I saw an immediate improvement in the worst spots within hours. After a few days of use, they had all subsided and seem to be staying away. Definitely worth the money.

Origins Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel (10ml) £16, feelunique.com:

At £16 for such a small bottle this seemed expensive. Clear and scent-free, I liked that you could use it under make-up and during a particularly bad breakout I reapplied several times during the day over my make-up too. It wasn’t a quick fix but definitely tackled some of my biggest spots after a few days of use. And a little goes a long way.
