Disguised Aston Martin spotted on the road

- By ENDA MULLEN News Reporter enda.mullen@reachplc.com

WHAT could this camouflaged Aston Martin be?

It was spotted in Warwickshire by eagle-eyed reader David Orton, who managed to capture a still image of it via his dash cam.

The prototype vehicle was seen shortly after leaving the HORIBA MIRA facility near Nuneaton.

Is it a yet to be revealed new model - or a longrunning protoype version of an existing model?

The MIRA facility is used by a many car makers to test new models and technologies, with Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover among them.

Major product offensiveAston Martin is currently in the midst of a major product offensive as part of its Second Century Plan.

Earlier this year it launched its V8 Vantage and later this year it will also launch its DB11 Volante - the convertible version of the DB11.

The camouflaged car spotted near Nuneaton certainly isn’t a convertible and seems unlikely to be the V8 Vantage as it’s already on sale.

Another new Aston Martin is set to be launched next month the DBS Superleggera.

Aston Martin has already showed the world what it will look like, though it is possible prototpye models are still running round on local roads.

The DBS Superleggera is the replacement for the Vanquish.

More powerful than the DB11It has much in common with the DB11, but is considerably more powerful, its 5.2-litre twin turbo V12 engine producing 715bhp.

That means it will be capable of travelling from a standing start to 100mph in just 6.4 seconds.

Another Aston Martin model in the pipeline is the Warwickshire car maker’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Rapide E, so could that be the car spotted near MIRA?

The Rapide E will be built in Wales with production getting under way in 2019.

Aston Martin recently announced that its new Welsh factory, currently taking shape in St Athan, will be the centre of its electric vehicle production plans.

Home of LagondaIt will also be the home of Lagonda, Aston Martin’s even more exclusive offshoot brand .

In addition St Athan will be the location for production of the company’s first SUV, which up until now has been known as the DBX.

It is set to go into production in late 2019.
