A BRAND new city centre student block offers residents comfy living and sensational views across the city.

We took a tour around the brand new Bishop Gate building on Tower Street, which is now home to over 700 students.

With a residents-only gym, a study area, outside courtyard and mini cinema room it’s certainly got enough to keep students satisfied.

And those lucky enough to land a room on one of the top floors enjoy views stretching out across the city.

The accommodation comprises three colourful towers with a mix of cluster flats and studio rooms. Leading the tour, Chris Morgan, who is the chief operating officer of Futurelets, Coventry University’s accommodation group, said over 500 students moved into their new home in Bishop Gate last Saturday (September 22).

The new block has proved to be the university’s most popular choice this year and is fully booked.

Studios come in either standard or deluxe and can sleep either one or two students.

The deluxe studios come with a double bed, two lounge chairs, large study space, kitchen and plenty of storage.

On the ground floor of the building students have access to a soft seating area with Sky TV, the gym, table tennis, group and individual study areas and a breakfast bar where they can make tea and coffee to go.

The three blocks are connected via the first and second floors.

There’s also laundry facilities on site and a cinema room.

Final year law student Temi Abatan, who has just returned to university after a placement year, has moved into a cluster flat with nine other students.

Showing us around her new student digs Temi, 21, from Essex, told us: “I chose Bishopgate because of the location. It’s really close to uni also it’s new which is good.

“It’s equal distance from the bus station and the train station too so it means easy travel access.

“It’s been really good. My flatmates are lovely. We don’t necessarily know each other but the rooms been great too.”

For undergraduates, a room in a cluster flat like Temi’s costs £153 per week. Contracts last for 43 weeks making the total amount £6,579 for the year.

Postgraduates have the choice of staying in a standard or deluxe studio, although undergraduates can choose the studio option too.

Contracts last for 50 weeks as postgraduate students study for longer.

A standard studio will set you back £175 a week, a total of £8,750 for the year.

A deluxe studio costs slightly more - £190 a week, a total of £9,500 for the year.
