Cov will be all White after drawing a line in the sand

- By BOBBY BRIDGE Peter White

SCRUM-HALF Pete White insists Coventry Rugby have parked their problems and are fully-prepared to ‘fire some shots’ at London Scottish.

Defeat at Richmond last time out was Rowland Winter’s side’s third on the bounce heading into tomorrow’s encounter at the Butts Park Arena.

“It was frustrating,” said White, reflecting on the 22-5 defeat.

“We reviewed the game and had some honest opinions from the players. We’ve now parked that, drawn a line in the sand. We’ve got to try and look forward to right those wrongs from last week. It’s been a good week, we’ll keep striving to get that win at the weekend.”

Standing in their way will be a London Scottish side that was humbled 54-17 by title favourites London Irish last time out in front of their own supporters.

“They had a loss at the weekend, so they’ll be looking to right a few wrongs,” added White.

“They’ll come to Butts Park with probably nothing to lose, it’ll be a tough contest. They’ve got some very good players. If we can shut them down early, and shut some of their playmakers down early, we’ll be in for a good afternoon.” It was against the Exiles last time out at the Butts Park Arena when Coventry went agonisingly close to a famous win before former Wasps centre Brendan Macken scored the late, decisive try. That performance highlighted Cov’s ability to compete back at level two rugby, and is a display White hopes he and his team-mates can repeat tomorrow afternoon. “Hopefully we can get back to that performance,” he said. “That was a massive step and a positive in our season. It’s such a shame we couldn’t back that up last week, but these things happen. It’s a long season, we’ve talked about that. Like I said, we’ve drawn a line in the sand and want to get back to winning on Saturday in front of a big crowd.” White added: “It’s obviously been up and down this season. We play well one week, we don’t quite play well the next week. It’s been a bit frustrating. If we can put a good few performances together over the next few weeks, then hopefully we can creep our way back up the table.”
