Max glad to be a factor again

COVENTRY Rugby’s Max Trimble pronounced himself “just glad to be back out on the pitch,” after racing 70 metres to the London Scottish line to claim his team’s all-important fourth try in his first appearance of the season.

Trimble, who missed the first six games of the Greene King IPA Championship season due to injury, admitted afterwards he had been desperate to join his newly-promoted teammates in English rugby’s second tier.

“Everyone prefers to be involved, especially during the first few games of the season,” he said. “Win or lose it’s better to be out on the pitch with the boys making some memories.”

The 26-year-old delivered an eye-catching display during his comeback game, capped by a truly memorable second-half counter-attack try.

Trimble’s score came soon after Cov had regained the momentum by emptying their bench then driving Scott Tolmie over for a bonus point clinching fourth try.

And it eventually proved to be the difference between two tightly-matched sides in a winddominated contest which the winger described as a gruelling encounter.

“It was tough with the conditions, I’m glad it wasn’t wet but a strong wind makes the game a lot harder,” he said.

“We knew it was going to be tough, it was just one of those games where we really dug deep.

“It was really nice work after winning a turnover and that’s exactly what we want - to get the ball wide and have a go. We haven’t really had that opportunity very often this season, so I was just lucky to be on the end of it.”
