New 24-hour gym set to open

COVENTRY fitness fanatics will have the choice of a brand new location to work out early next year, as a nationwide gym group has announced that it is opening a second facility in the city.

Simply Gym, who already have one gym in Coventry - located at Cannon Park shopping centre, have announced that they are set to open a second gym at Earl Place Business Park on Fletchamstead The news Highway. comes as Coventry City Council have approved Simply Gym’s planning application for the site, allowing for work to commence.

The build is set to be completed in December, with the gym to open in January - just in time for locals to work on their New Year’s Resolutions.

?With builders hard at work turning the unit at Earl Place into a state of the art fitness facility, Simply Gym have given us some insight into what we can expect from their second gym in the city.

The 24 hour gym will have two studios, changing rooms, and a private ladies only gym.

It will also be home to an aerobics studio, with around 50 classes per week for members to access at no extra cost to their membership.

Examples of classes given to us include spinning, pump, combat, boxercise, zumba, pilates and yoga.

According to planning documents, some 60 jobs are expected to be created at the gym.

The gym is set to occupy Unit C on the business park - which very nearly had a different history.

Last summer, it was revealed that trampoline park operator Jump In had been granted planning permission to open a facility in the very same building. It was set to open in 2018, creating 60 jobs, but plans soon changed. In February, Jump In “reluctantly decided to step back’’ from their plans to open in Tile Hill. Since then, the unit has remained vacant, until planning permission was granted, allowing the use of the building to change from a trampoline park to a gym. It has been confirmed that membership pre-sale starts in November, with the first 1,000 members signing up receiving an introductory rate of £9.99 a month.

Those who might live further afield will be relieved to know that there will be free parking on site.
