Let’s have a column from City reporters Getting best Brexit goes above politics

-

ALL the Remainers keep talking about being better off in the EU. I ask you, how can we be when we trade with the EU in deficit? Plus all the membership fees we pay annually.

We all know the country voted for Brexit. It should be above politics to get the very best deal from the EU as possible. If we don’t get a satisfactory deal we simply walk away and still be better off.

An all-party alliance gives the UK the strongest bargaining strength possible, instead of all the arguments and in-fighting. This only places the UK in a dangerous position in any negotiations.

Kenneth Clarke says lies have been told by all parties on leaving the EU. Not one of the Leavers have ever mentioned the lies told to convince the British voters to vote Remain. It’s only a common market, they preached – some common market, look where we’ve ended up.

Now all parties keep on about Theresa May’s u-turns, I ask you this question – what about Jeremy Corbyn’s u-turns on the country’s defence? He said on camera he would never press the nuclear button in defence of our country and possibly the defence of the world. Given the massive problems with North Korea, Russia, Iran and any country’s aggressive policies and threats to world peace from nuclear attack, it is my opinion that the UK should, as far as possible, lead the world in defence.

No sacrifice is too great to keep our crown, our country and its people safe from tyranny. Do you trust Jeremy Corbyn to protect the country when he wants ‘dialogue’, with nuclear weapons involved?

I lived through the Second World War and remember how unprepared we were. Luckily, we had Churchill, Montgomery, all Britain’s Armed Forces and our Commonwealth countries. Take notice, you young voters with your beliefs; let us hope you never have to live through any kind of major war with Corbyn in charge. Appeasement is always a sign of weakness and never works in my view. Gordon Davis Nuneaton I DON’T know if it’s just me or does anybody else feel the same? Why do we have to have a full page of Gary Newbon in our local paper?

I don’t think he likes Coventry – even when he was doing ITV Central football on Sunday afternoons, he never seemed to have a good word to say about Coventry.

As the Coventry Telegraph is our local paper, why can’t we have Andy Turner, our local reporter, doing this column? Or Liam Cook who reports local football. Anybody but Newbon. John Cox Wyken
