Ghostly goings on at Coombe Abbey
A SPOOKTACULAR UK convention is set to take place at a Coventry hotel rumoured to be haunted.
As part of Sage Paracon, paranormal experts are set to investigate whether things are going bump in the night at Coombe Abbey Hotel during the four day convention. The event will run from November 8-11.
In its third year, the event dubbed “the most exclusive paranormal event in the UK” - will also feature stalls, a mediaeval banquet, a ghost hunt and a Vampire Masquerade Ball.
It is the first time it has been hosted at Coombe Abbey.
The award-winning venue is a former Cistercian Abbey which is rumoured to be haunted by the monks that lived there, along with other spirits.
Some of the star attractions include appearances from supernatural investigators from the UK and across the pond.
Psychic mediums including Katrina Weidman, who cohosts TV programme Paranormal Lockdown on Quest Red, will also be at the event.
Other speakers include leading Ouija board specialist Karen A. Dahlman, Chris Fleming and Barri Ghai from Really TVs ‘HELP! My House Is Haunted’ and a range of other expert mediums and paranormal writers.
Depending on the type of ticket purchased, guests will get to take part in a paranormal investigation led by the keynote speakers.
The weekend will culminate in one of Coombe’s popular four course medievalthemed banquets with a paranormal twist and a VIP Vampire masquerade ball with live bands and karaoke.
MJ Dickson, founder and lead investigator for Sage Paracon, has said the group is excited to be visiting the hotel, delving into its past and seeing what they can discover.
She said: “Coombe was the perfect venue to host our weekend as it has never been professionally investigated before so we’re very excited to see what activity we can record at such a beautiful hotel.
“The Abbey has such a rich history but it also has a much more sinister past when a monk was brutally murdered there in 1345, which has become one of the most famous ghosts to haunt the hotel.
“This event also caters for those with a hearing impairment as we will have two sign language interpreters to sign the lectures and the convention will also be wheelchair accessible.
“This is a very exclusive event with only around 100 guests getting some quality time with our well-known speakers and we’re really looking forward to welcoming paranormal fans from around the world for a spooky weekend at Coombe.
“Whether you are a paranormal investigator or you just have an interest in the paranormal, we hope that you will come along for a weekend of all things spooky.”
Ron Terry, general manager of Coombe Abbey, said: “We receive mixed feedback from people staying in the hotel with reports from some guests of ‘ghostly happenings’ during their stay but then others witnessing nothing at all out of the ordinary.”
